Egbert Lewis

In February 1851, the Halifax County court appointed Fred N. McWilliamsguardian of the minor orphans of Egbert Lewis by his first wife, LucretiaGreen. The children named were Robert B., Jesse A., and Melissa J. Lewis("Records of Estates of Halifax County, North Carolina, Vol. III" byDavid B. Gammon, p. 45). It is likely that Jesse was named for hisbrother-in-law, Jesse Green, and Melissa for Malissa Nevill, the youngwife of Elijah Hillman Green.

87. Jesse Albert Watson Green

Jesse Albert Watson Green was a student in School District Two of HalifaxCounty, North Carolina in 1843 along with another Jesse Green who was theson of George Green, Jr. He was twelve when his parents migrated toDallas County, Arkansas.

During the Civil War he served in the Confederacy and settled in RoundHill in Dallas County after his marriage to Emily Frances Clifton.

Jesse Albert Green and Jennie Scott were not married but he was thefather of her two children. Jesse gave each of his four boys the sameamount of land.

He died of pneumonia on February 15, 1905 and is buried in the CaldwellChapel Cemetery in Dallas County, Arkansas.

Some members of the Green family believe that Jennie Scott was an orphanwho lived in the house of Jesse Green and his family.

Sarah Catherine V. Green's first husband, James Joseph Daniel, died inan early battle in the Civil War. Their three children were raised by herfather, Elijah H. Green, who had legal custody of them.
