Mingay History Part 9
Photo's Of Shotesham & Rainsthorpe Hall
The bottom photo is of St. Mary Church Shotesham, where a
lot of the people who lived at the Shotesham Hall Manor, were buried, and
where Henry and William Mingay were Petrons in 1600. Also John Mingay, who was
Rector 1729. This was the year before the Fellows family took over. The top
photo is of Tacolneston School, not far from Tasburgh where William Mingay, born
at Shotesham in 1620 went to be educated by Mr. Marierie for 6 years. At age 17,
he went to Caius College on 2nd March 1637.B.A.1641 -2 M.A.1645. Ordained Deacon
and Priest (Lincoln) 2nd July 1646. Rector of Burnham, Ulph, Norfolk, Rector of
Chilton, Suffolk 1649, Licensed to preach in the diocese 14th Oct 1662. He was
the descendant of William Mingay born 1520 at Shotesham, by line of his son John
born 1544, who had a son and heir Henry born 1577, educated at Trinity College
Cambridge, who was a scholar of Cambridge, enticed by an Italian to pass over
the seas c 1596. He was the father of Rev. William Mingay 1620. Photos taken

Note...... It has come to light that this is not
the original school. It was kindly pointed out (see guest book) that the
school illustrated was
built around 1870. Thanks to Ken Hale for this information.

The picture of Tacolneston School cannot be the school you refer to as it was
only built in about 1870. There is a now private house some .5 miles away that
was previously the school"
his is the History of John Mingay, and William Mingay. John
born 1662,William 1663 they were brothers, descendants of Robert Mingay born
1518 Holkham at Hall Norfolk. They were married at Norwich 1543.Pobert had
Tuthill Saxlingham property. He had 3 sons, William, Robert, and John, born
1555 son and heir, who married Susanna Skinner of Norwich. He was Sheriff and
Mayor of Norwich 1617, he had property at Great Melton Norfolk, and
Hethersett, and he died 1625 age 69. They had 3 sons, John born 1587.Anthony
born ±589.Roger born 1595. Anthony was heir, and had 3 sons John born 1634,
who married Elizabeth Tuthill of Saxlingham, Rainthorpe Hall. He was admitted
to Caius College Cambridge 2nd Nov 1652. Admitted at Gray's Inn 26th Nov
1655,of Gimingham, he died 1716.Antnony born1636 of London Merchant, under age
21 1649.wiliiam born 1638. John and Elizabeth had 2 sons, John born 1661,of
Tasburgh and Rainthorpe Hall, educated at age 17 Caius College 20th May
1679,he died 1683 without issue (family). William was admitted to Cams College
22nd Feb 1683,he also was of Tasburgh and Rainthorpe Hall, he died and left no
issue. This is the end of this line of family. Below is the photo of Tasburgh
